When most people think about hail damage repairs, “fun” is probably not the first word that comes to mind. But for Lucky Car, we decided to flip the script. The result? A cartoon-style video that stormed onto YouTube, reached over 2 million views, and left a lasting impression.
The Goal
Lucky Car wanted a short video with one clear purpose:👉 Drive car owners to book an appointment immediately after hail damage.
The video was designed as a YouTube pre-roll ad—so grabbing attention within the first seconds was absolutely critical.
The Idea
Instead of showing technicians or repair workshops, we brought in… hail-corn warriors.
These cartoon hailstones, complete with flying bandanas, crash down from the sky to attack a car. It’s bold, funny, and instantly recognizable as Lucky Car’s brand style. Humor was the key to catching viewers off-guard and making them remember the message.

The Process
To shape the style, we built moodboards together with Lucky Car, defining a bold cartoon look with outlines. Here’s how we brought it to life:
Illustrator → Designed the hail corns and other cartoon assets
After Effects & Duik → Rigged and animated characters for expressive movement
Cartoon storytelling → Humor-driven scenes that balance chaos and clarity
Challenges along the way:
Panicking passengers: The silhouettes inside the car had to look scared—without going too far into slapstick.
Bouncing hailstones: Getting the simulation of impacts to feel believable but still funny was tricky, but essential for the energy of the video.
The Results
The campaign ran as a YouTube pre-roll ad and reached over 2 million views. While Lucky Car kept specific customer metrics internal, the massive reach and playful storytelling clearly delivered attention and brand recall.
My Favorite Moment
The hail-corn warriors flying from the sky—bandanas wiggling in the wind—are my personal highlight. That little detail of speed and chaos makes the video come alive.
