
How a hailstone turned into 2 million views

The goal

Lucky Car wanted a short and attention-grabbing video to drive customers straight into action: Book an appointment now or come by immediately to repair your car after hail damage.
The idea
Instead of going for a dry, technical explanation, we leaned into humor. A cartoon stone – in Lucky Car’s established brand style – became the star of the show. Together with funny hail-corn “warriors” crashing down from the sky, the video immediately grabs attention and entertains while still delivering the clear message: Your car can be fixed at Lucky Car.

The process

We worked closely with Lucky Car to shape the creative direction. Using moodboards, we defined a cartoon style with bold outlines that fits perfectly to their brand. I created the hail corns in Illustrator, rigged the characters with Duik in After Effects, and brought them to life with expressive animation.

One of the biggest challenges was animating the silhouettes inside the car: they needed to look like they were panicking—but not too much. Another tricky part was simulating the bouncing hail corns on the car to make the impact feel believable while keeping the fun, cartoonish tone.
The Power of Sound: Macjingle’s Audio Magic
Macjingle’s expert sound design brought the animation to life. From the funny "pop" of the stone waking up to the sparkling repair effect, the sound added personality and impact.

The video ran as a YouTube pre-roll ad and reached over 2 million views. While Lucky Car kept detailed customer numbers internal, the huge reach and memorable humor clearly made an impact.
